1959 Fender Jazzmaster – 100% Original "Time Capsule" One-Owner Find (Gold Guard, Tweed Case & Untouched Since 1985)

Up for consignment is a true holy grail find for vintage Fender collectors: an entirely untouched, 100% original 1959 Fender Jazzmaster in its original Sunburst finish with a factory Gold Anodized pickguard.

This instrument is the definition of a "Time Capsule" find. Purchased new by the late husband of the current consignor, this guitar was his prized instrument from high school until 1985. That year, it was placed inside its original tweed hardshell case, where it sat undisturbed under a bed for over 40 years.

We have chosen to leave this guitar exactly as found. It has not been cleaned, polished, restrung, or altered in any way. The deep, authentic patina, surface grime, and oxidation are preserved exactly as it emerged from decades of storage.

Condition & Provenance Details:

• Body & Finish: The original 3-tone Sunburst finish over ash/alder retains incredible color. There is beautiful, honest play wear consistent with an instrument loved and played for its first 25 years.
• Pickguard & Electronics: Features the iconic, original Gold Anodized pickguard. The pickguard has never been removed. In fact, the original pickguard shrink/seal has bonded gently to the body over the decades; we have chosen not to force it open to preserve its undisturbed factory seal. I did peek at the solder joint under the bridge pickup. It looks entirely untouched.
• Neck & Fretboard: Features a gorgeous, dark slab Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard with original clay dots. The frets are original, heavily worn/low, and show green verdigris/oxidation from decades in the case.
• Hardware: Includes the original "Pat. Pend." floating tremolo tailpiece and the incredibly rare, original bridge cover.

1. Vintage Ernie Ball Music Pouch: A highly collectible, early vinyl pick pouch from Ernie Ball’s original, historic guitar shop in Tarzana, California (the world's first guitar-only store, opened in 1958). This strongly hints at the Southern California origins of this legendary instrument.
2. Bobby Lee "No-Scratch" Denim Strap: A classic period-correct denim strap with metal buckles.
3. Vintage String Packs: Several ancient packs of strings left in the case pocket since the guitar was retired in 1985.
4. The trim on the ends of the case came off at some point. 
   

Seller Notes to Serious Buyers:

Because this guitar is a pure, unrestored collector's item, it is being sold exactly as-is. It will require a setup, fret dress/refret (if you intend to play it regularly), and gentle fret cleaning. We will leave the choice of restoration entirely to the next custodian.
